An unexpected pregnancy can make a conversation with your partner feel especially difficult. You may be unsure how your partner will respond, whether you will agree, or how to explain that you are still processing what you are experiencing.
You do not need to enter that conversation with a decision already made. Before discussing any pregnancy option, begin by learning more about your pregnancy and considering any factors that may affect your health.
HeartReach Center provides no-cost pregnancy testing, limited obstetric ultrasounds, and options counseling to help you make an informed pregnancy decision.

First, Confirm Your Pregnancy
Before considering your next step, confirming your pregnancy and understanding how your pregnancy is developing is important since these details can affect your health and options.
A limited ultrasound will be able to show you the location of your pregnancy, how far along the pregnancy is (the gestational age), and the viability.
Knowing the location of your pregnancy, for example, is important since it can determine whether the pregnancy may be ectopic, which is a medical emergency.
It is also possible to still receive a positive pregnancy test result after a miscarriage because hCG can remain in the body for a period of time after pregnancy.
At HeartReach Center, we will provide a free pregnancy retest and a limited ultrasound performed by our licensed RN to give you the information you need about your pregnancy.
Get Knowledge About All Your Options
It can be helpful to learn accurate information about all your options before having a conversation with your partner.
You can come to our center by yourself or with your partner for an options counseling appointment so you can feel fully informed. Your options include parenting, adoption, and abortion.
Each option has different considerations. During an options counseling appointment at our center, you will have the opportunity to express your concerns and ask questions about the support available to you.
For example, many women facing unexpected pregnancies don’t feel ready to parent, but there are lots of resources available that can make parenting feel more possible.
HeartReach Center provides parenting classes where you can earn parent bucks to spend on items at our market, such as diapers.
We can also explain how adoption works, provide referrals to trusted adoption agencies, and give you information about abortion and the considerations and risks involved.
Be Honest About Your Feelings
Going into a conversation about your pregnancy options with your partner can feel nerve-wracking. It’s important to create a space where you can both express your feelings and talk openly about your concerns, hopes, and what support you may need.
You and your partner may not feel the same way about how you want your pregnancy to move forward, and that’s okay.
If your partner tries to pressure or coerce you into making a decision, remember that this is your pregnancy and the decision is ultimately up to you. If you ever feel unsafe, reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline for help.
